My grandmother Lillian Dawson used to create her own beauty products here in Washington, DC, in the 1980s. My grandmother created shampoos, hair products, natural hair oils, body scrubs, lotions, and butter. She mixed different products out of her pantry in her tiny kitchen to help my dry skin and my overly curly and kinky hair.
One day my granny asked me to help her with creating new products and that's when Tyi and Lill was born. All the products are made from natural products. The formulas were designed to improve African-American people's skin and hair and for all textures and all skin types.
Not only did I begin to help her with beauty products, we also began to make our own nail polishes. It fit all of the things I wanted as a young girl in my polishes - vivid, bold, and unique colors and to top it off it’s eco-friendly AND vegan!
In 2013 my beloved granny received her wings and went to take her eternal rest, but the company lives on today; through her recipes and love. We continue to create quality products and grow our company to become better every day to bring healthy and natural products to the marketplace.
